Development of Library Functional Design Briefs

The development of a library functional design brief as part of Fraser Coast Regional Council’s (QLD) proposed Library and Administration Centre (Incorporating Disaster Resilience Centre) at Hervey Bay project.; and the development of a library functional design brief for the Maryborough Council Administration and Library project. The Hervey Bay project was conducted under the auspices of Group GSA Architects

Requirements

  • Stakeholder engagement (workshops and survey)
  • Review of current branches, their operation and challenges
  • Benchmarking and research i.e., exemplar library designs and functions
  • Identification of functional and space requirements
  • Develop space / room data sheets for each function to inform concept design

Outcomes

  • A comprehensive functional design briefs for each site for concept planning phase
  • Detailed documentation of preferred floor space and functionality requirements
  • Documentation of building aspirations, including image and contemporary public library design principles
